A Message From Kristen Stapay
First of all thank you for viewing my fundraising page for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, where I am raising money for the South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights, Illinois!
This charity means a lot to me. I love every animal, just as much as I love to run! I have 11 years of running experience, I ran in high school and college, and I have the racing awards to show for it. I take my running very seriously and this marathon will be no exception.
I picked the humane society for my charity because I hate to see homeless animals. Shelter animals live many months or even years locked in a small kennel or cage, waiting to be adopted. Many older pets are overlooked if they are no longer a cute puppy or kitten. Many spend their whole life in the shelter, never feeling the warm love of an owner. Shelters across the country struggle with the costs of housing these animals on a long term basis. They need to buy food, toys, cleaning supplies, cat litter, and that's not counting any veterinary costs if an animal is sick or injured. The costs pile up and that makes it harder for shelters to take in more animals. Well I want to make it easier for the South Suburban Humane Society and relieve any of their outstanding balances so they can help take care of more animals. I encourage everyone to donate whatever they can to help me meet my goal by October 2019! A great idea is to donate in the name of a beloved pet that has passed away. They say the best way to honor your pet, is to help another in need. I truly believe that is what our old friends would want. I can ensure you, your money will go to a great cause, and because of all of you I will run with great pride in the marathon knowing we all helped these poor pets. Thank you for your contribution.

About This Campaign
The South Suburban Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the well-being of pets and the people who love them in the Metro Chicago region. Through the care and sheltering of animals needing protection, providing pet care resources to our communities, promoting the human-pet bond through adoption services, and targeted, high-impact spay/neuter policies, the South Suburban Humane Society will make every effort towards ending pet homelessness, reducing pet overpopulation, and creating a better world for pets and their people.
